Reflexology

Reflexology dates back to approximately 2300 BC in Egypt. It works on the principal that there are reflex areas on the feet and hands that correspond to all organs, parts and functions of the human body. It is a therapeutic massage applied to the feet and is deeply relaxing.

The pressure applied by the practitioner’s hands can detect tiny crystalline deposits and blockages lying along specific energy lines in the body.  These blockages can cause an imbalance within the body’s structures. By unblocking these imbalances the body is opened up to a state of ‘re-balance’.

Reflexology is widely used to treat many ailments and can be used to maintain good health. Many people also use it as a form of relaxation as it is a great treatment for stress and anxiety. It has proved effective in treating IBS, PMT, menopause, arthritis, migraines and back pain. It can be used as an aid to support chronic health conditions and is sometimes used for prevention of illness.

Reflexology is also widely used in cases of infertility, for pre-conception, conception, labour and postnatal care.

One Hour Treatment £50.00

What does a reflexology treatment involve?

Your feet will first be soaked in the foot spa for a few minutes, after which you will transfer to the treatment table. You can decide whether to sit upright or lie down.

Your feet will then be covered in talcum powder before the various pressure points of the feet are manipulated and massaged. This part of the treatment usually takes about 40 minutes and during this time you may feel different sensations which is normal.

After all the reflex points have been worked the treatment will finish with a gentle and relaxing foot massage with a nourishing cream.

What should I wear to attend the treatment?

You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks for the treatment as the feet and lower legs are the only parts of the body that need to be exposed. However it is still recommended to wear loose comfortable clothing.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes one hour and begins with a verbal consultation to establish any symptoms and to take a full medical history, followed by the treatment.

How will I feel after the treatment?

It is important to remember to drink plenty of water for the next 24 hours, to flush through your system. Sometimes reflexology can cause a headache or an upset stomach, but drinking lots of water will help to avoid these side effects.

It is also good to remember that you may feel quite tired after a treatment so it’s best to listen to your body and rest if this happens to you.
